The collection in the Paloc Museum covers the peasant culture of the whole Nograd County, and you can discover their former daily lives and festivals and learn about their customs and attire. Paloc furniture has always been highly appreciated, and some outstanding pieces can still be admired in the Paloc Museum. An example of the most ancient type of furniture can be seen here, the so-called "szuszék" (i.e. a large chest for keeping grains, cereals). The simple craftsman has etched interlaced semicircles, bows, and cubes into the sides of the plain but elegant wooden chest. No less wonderful are the fabulously carved corner benches, on which drawings of smoking chimneys and hussars with unsheathed swords can be seen.
Another interesting item is the traditional peasant kitchen: the classic household utensils of a hundred years ago, still usable, made from wood, metal and clay. The peasant house set up in the sheltered park surrounding the Museum became part of one of the first open-air relocation museums in Hungary. The story goes that the dismantled wooden house, which was estimated to be 150-200 years old at that time, was transported in seven carts to the yard of the Museum. The present house came from Bocsarlapujto, the hut from Litke, while the oil oven arrived from Patvarc. The Paloc building plot has been completed with a Blessed Virgin chapel in recent years.
