Thanks to the medicinal “wonder lake” of Gyoparosfurdo, which is part of the characteristic Great Plain town of Oroshaza, this settlement is ‘targeted’ as a real tourist destination. Gyula is one of the region’s most charming towns, boasting trees, flowers and therapeutic waters, as well as remarkable historical treasures. Bekescsaba having been depopulated during the Turkish rule, then it was settled by Slovaks. Here too, as in neighbouring Gyula, a popular spicy sausage is made – this one is called “Csabai”. Szarvas is a pleasant small town in the centre of the Koros-Maros National Park.
