Kiskunhalas

Kiskunhalas - Description

Even in Brussels (the home of lace) the Grand Prix of the World Exhibition of 1958 was awarded to the lace of Kiskunhalas, made with a peculiar feather-touch technology that demands extremely sophisticated skills.
In the Lance House (37/a. Kossuth Street) not only the best pieces of lace but also the secrets of this profession are presented to the visitors.

Next to the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul (Szentharomsag Square) stands the famous cross where Christ is wiping his forehead and he is fixed to the cross with ropes instead of nails. The only functioning synagogue in the region stands in Petofi Snador Street.
The windmill of Sarfik, still active as an electric mill, is a rare piece of industrial history (on the corner of Kolcsey and Szelmalom Streets).

The thermal bath, helpful in the case of degenerative diseases of the joints and vertebrate (1 Nagy Szeder I. Street), welcomes patients all year round.
People looking for relaxation aim for the holiday lakes: both Lakes Kun-Feher and Sos Lake(Salt Lake) are famous for the abundance of fish.
