The open-air studio and the statue park came into existence in 1968 on the Szársomlyó mountain, in the abandoned quarry wash tub. It was furnished near the exhibition square of the quarry, in the Gyimothy fork the sculptor a colony's of artists writer's retreat. The works of the Hungarian invited in the previous years in the statue park and foreign country sculptors are visible.
