Szemenye
Szemenye - Description
This small and quiet village is located on the south side of the Kemenashat. Its history dates back to 1217 when it is first mentioned in a charter. Its name developed form an ancient Hungarian word that means 'the servants who belong to the local chief'.
The village is right between the Raba River and the Jeli Arboretum. The population is 370 people. The village is also surrounded with vineyards. Excavations in the area unearthed remains of an ancient Roman settlement.
