The old man castle is a pop's symbol and his most considerable ancient monument. Developed continuously because of the end of the 1300 years and developed. Luxemburgi Zsigmond and Matyas were in his and his prime under a king's time. Kuny Domokos Museum works currently between his walls, his rich regional historical, cultural history and industry story collection.
CONSTANT EXHIBITIONS:
The constant local historical exhibitons show the most beautiful pieces of collection according to periods and themes.
The Roman period is characterized by lapidary and joining small hall.
We inhereted rich material from neighbouring fortress of Brigetio and surrounding settlements.
We can see glorious collection of Roman period from scent bottles to tea-lights.
Reconstruction of a hall with wall-fragements - decorated with mythological scenes orgigining from Brigetio-remind us the Roman time.
The hall display the town and surrounding settlements medieval history, most valuable pieces are the carvings of benedictian monastery in Vértesszentkereszt.
The delightful green glased tile-stove, decorated with knights in gothic groined hall of second stage ( so called knight-hall) shows the flourishing period of town the rule of King Matthias and Sigismund.
XVIII. century brought a second delicate period for the town.
The two towns: Tata and Tóváros became flourishing centre of domain during possession of Esterházy family Four halls of second stage display this period.
Liva like a lord are shown by exhibition including rococo enterieurs and contemporary paintings, this collection tries to make us remind to milieu of that time.
Wide range of objects- origining from guilds- display developing of the town.
Count’s court became public centre after 1867.
Horse- breeding , famous horse- racing were organized here, Count Esterházy Miklós made a wonderful theatre built.
Most attractive spectacle of this exhibition is the snooker table from XIX century, owned by a member of the english horse trainer – colony.
The first floor’s room is famous for potery- collection of Tata, which shows histrory of this trade , and repersentative works.
