Deak square is the oldest part of the town centre. Here stands the baroque building of the Zala County Court built between 1730-32 as County Hall. It gained nationwide reputation during the reform era due the activities of Laszlo Csany and Ferenc Deak.
The statue of Ferenc Deak, the native of the country stands in the middle of the square, which was the first to be erected in the country in honour of the "country's wise man". |
